How Exos Delivered Integrated, Human Care to a Global Tech Company

THE CHALLENGE

Integrating Programs to Build Engagement and Efficiency

A global technology company was ready to rethink its approach to employee well-being. Three big challenges stood in the way:

  1. Low engagement with existing programs

  2. No real, lasting behavior change

  3. Rising healthcare costs from preventable issues

On paper, the benefits were impressive. In practice, they were scattered. Occupational health, mental health, nutrition, and fitness all lived in separate silos. That made it harder for employees to connect the dots and for the company to get the most out of its investment.

Leaders knew they needed something different. They called Exos for a way to bring these services together into one seamless experience. And it had to work for everyone, whether they were in a corporate office, on the manufacturing floor, or logging in from home.

THE STORY

From Fitness Management to a Full Health Ecosystem

Exos began by managing a handful of on-site fitness centers and quickly set the standard for employee well-being. Our coaches became the trusted resource employees rely on for lasting health improvements. They offered one-on-one support, led workouts, gave nutrition advice, and helped people build healthy habits that stuck.

This hands-on, people-first approach laid the foundation for a new company-wide well-being program. Over time, it expanded to include a proactive ergonomics initiative, designed to keep employees comfortable, safe, and productive.

Regardless of whether employees worked in a plant, an office, or at home, they could get personalized expert support. Behind the scenes, Exos partnered with teams across ergonomics, mental health, EAP, primary care, occupational health, and food services to make sure every part of the program worked together.

THE SOLUTION

Scalable, Integrated Care in Tandem With Internal Teams

Coaches as Holistic Care Champions
The Exos coach was the heart of the program. Beyond fitness experts, they served as holistic well-being concierges. Coaches guided employees on movement, nutrition, and lasting habit change through:

  • Personalized coaching, in-person and virtual
  • Communications designed to reach employees across all work environments
  • Collaboration with organizational partners like food services, EAP, and health resources to reinforce healthy choices

The Ergonomics Program
Over time, Exos expanded its role to address workplace discomfort and injury risk.

Exos teamed up with the company’s occupational health and safety groups to co-create a proactive ergonomics program. Coaches visited worksites, observed workstations, and spotted movement patterns that could lead to strain or injury.

Their triage process was simple:

  • If someone was in pain, coaches referred them for clinical care.
  • If they were facing discomfort, coaches delivered targeted solutions: movement breaks, posture resets, and workstation adjustments.

By weaving this support into the company’s safety culture, the program helped people feel cared for, reduced injuries, and kept teams performing at their best.

A Custom-Built, Scalable Model

Exos doesn’t do cookie-cutter employee engagement solutions. Each of our programs is personalized to our clients’ unique needs, and they go far beyond just the fitness center.

Standardized Wellness Programs

Through rapidly changing eras including COVID-19, Exos consistently rolled out group fitness, nutritional support, mental well-being, and virtual employee engagement solutions to meet the evolving needs of employees. During Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccination program, Exos teams supported operations by checking in employees and leading movement sessions in line.

Strategic Design & Build Services

Our world-class space design and development team designed and built six new facilities and renovated six existing ones across the U.S. This included redeploying $300,000 in exercise equipment assets, obtained through acquisitions, to generate significant cost savings and upgrade Pfizer’s portfolio of workplace amenities.

Service Request Platform

Exos implemented an online service request system to support streamlined coordination of Recharge Breaks and other wellness offerings. This platform has supported global program delivery across Pfizer's workforce.

Global Hybrid Expansion

Exos virtual coaching gave Pfizer employees across the globe access to wellness programming, regardless of location or remote status.

Centralized Management

Exos implemented a unified standard operating model across 14 locations to ensure a consistent member experience. This included revenue/expense management, programming, staffing, and data tracking.

Recharge Breaks Deployment

As of January 2025, Exos officially deployed the three standard Recharge Break formats (for energy, creativity, or calm) across Pfizer. These sessions are delivered by both on-site and virtual coaches. To date, the team has completed 198 sessions with a total attendance of 8,255.

Data-Driven Efficiencies

Our team implemented Net Promoter Score (NPS) tracking, utilization data, and outcome monitoring to continually measure impact and improve how we serve each member.
